Bob Marley

Bob Marley: One Love,” starring Jewish actor Kingsley Ben-Adir as the reggae icon, we are republishing this piece from May 19, 2021. Now that 40 years have passed since the May 1981 death of reggae pioneer Bob Marley, it’s worth noting how the impact of Jewish family lore may sometimes exceed mere documentary proof. A number of his relatives claim that Marley, whose hit recordings included “One Love,” “Redemption Song” and “No Woman No Cry,” was of Syrian Jewish ancestry. His estranged father, Jamaica-born Norval Marley, a naval officer, supposedly had Jewish roots, although biographers have hastened to dismiss these claims, saying that they are unverified. Yet Bob Marley, who died at age 36 of complications from skin cancer, was surely inspired by Jewish history and lore, starting with the Bible. As a Rastafarian, an adherent of an Abrahamic religion and social movement that developed in Jamaica during the 1930s, Marley was a student of the second book of the Torah, among other Jewish...

Lately, lots of people have been addressing me with -Sir, yes Sir, OK sir...and all that courtesy-like manner language💪😹.The respect is so much that, I had to take a look at myself in the mirror 😮 and it's then I realised how tall and grown I have become.  🙆😀 I went even further to check the calendar and it dawned on me that, TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! 🚼😱😁🎆🎆🎆 Yipee!!! 💃💃💃💃💃💃💃🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎊🎆🎆🎆 it's my birthday today...and I feel so blessed! But, it's not all about the growth and tallness -or the cake I'm gonna devoured!.🙇 Seriously, it's not. What I'm grateful for on this special day of my life, is far more IMPORTANT than the aforementioned changes. 💦💦💦 I'm GRATEFUL onto God Almighty for the love and mercy He had shown me... He has been so good to me. 🙏🙏🙏 I remembered a few things... Back in 2012/2013, when I was "dying" to have everything God has blessed me with today! 😆😄😃. I never knew God was working behi...

Don't be like NSG! Avoid these FIVE FOODS at the supermarket!

Image
NSG headed to the supermarket... After working her butts off throughout the day, She headed to the roadside to buy her regular dinner of chicken and chips -the ajekpako version of C&C...  i.e aboki fried yam & chicken which cost roughly N300 -(Chicken N200, yam N100).  NSG starts to crave... As soon as she got into the supermarket, she noticed an ajebota family (The man, his little daughter, and his wife) pulling a cart of groceries and licking a stick sweet while they shopped. The sweet looked really tempting and I started craving for one. She picked the coke from the fridge and went to the counter to pay when she saw her new favorite gum, the N50 trident!  NSG gets tempted... Close to where the Trident lay, she saw different colours of the sweet the ajebota family were licking and since she has never paid more than N30 for a sweet, she decided to add one to her cart containing the coke and gum and gave the counter lady her N500. The counter-lady packaged her stu...

Image
Evelyn Moore who was just four-months-old when d octors noticed a lump protruding from her spine, has proved categorically that, nothing can stop her!    Thanks to her parents..:-) Mr and Mrs Moore wanted their daughter, who is now 13-month-old to have the freedom that any other toddler would have, so they decided to build her very own wheelchair , which is made from a kitchen cutting board, a Bumbo chair and tiny wheels from a children's bike, cost around $100 to make!  Proud parents..:-D. The Canadian-couple said their baby was just four months, doctors noticed a lump protruding from her spine that was later diagnosed as a stage four neuroblastoma tumour. The little girl went through eight rounds of chemotherapy to treat the tumour but after hearing that she was in remission, her parents Kim and Brad received heartbreaking news. Evelyn's tumour had crushed her spine at T4, leaving her paralysed below her arms ..:-( ''I was on Pinterest and I found a really cool whee...

Mom kills her toddler with teaspoon of salt

Image
A 23-years-old Spartanburg SC woman (pictured above), Kimberly Nicole Martines has been charged with homicide by child abuse.(BTW, is that blusher on her cheek?:) WECT gathered that, the mother of  a 17-month-old girl, Peyton Martines, killed her baby by feeding Peyton a teaspoon of sodium chloride(salt). Allegedly speaking, Kimberly told authorities that, she did so in an effort to "get her husband," from whom she is separated, "back into her life." Martines says, she was awakened on Sunday by Peyton screams. CBS News further added that she saw the child was having seizures and called 911. Baby Peyton was unfortunately diagnosed with an acute case of salt poisoning—which, if too much is ingested, the sodium in salt and soy sauce can cause seizures, coma, and in some cases, death! According to arrest warrants, a pediatrician was concerned in November because Peyton was not gaining weight. But Martines ignored the doctor's referrals to a specialist and BabyNet,...

These Nigerian children do not have Ovarian Cancer, But....

Image
Of course, They do not have ovarian cancer! They are boys, and boys don't have Ovaries!  ''But, why are they crying''? Did you ask? ''Did something or someone hurts them?'' ''Are they hungry?'' Well, These boys are neither hurt by something/someone nor are They hungry. (Though, They may be). But, Allow me to say that, these two young Nigerian siblings, 11 and 10, together with their mother and other, over 150 migrants, were all in a  rubber boat enjoying the cool breeze of the Mediterranean ocean, on their way to Europe in search of greener pastures. Unfortunately, for the young boys, death came and took their mother away! :-(... Hmm, Death, the end product of an overcrowded rubber boat! #Sad. Well, Thanks to God they have been rescued from their overcrowded rubber boat off the coast of Libya into Italy by a Spanish NGO’s boat. We human being tends to get it wrong at times. The grass may not be greener on the other side. All it takes ...

2015 Recap

Image
I created this blog in Nov 2013 but didn't publish my  first post until August 2014. Lol, as a matter of fact, I didn't take it seriously until September 17 last year! Initially, I started with entertainment, you know, after reading oga's blog, Linda Ikeji's blog, for several months and being enchanted by it. *wink* But later moved to Health and Lifehacks and sub niches. I know some people, especially my sisters,  think I take this blog too seriously, considering I don't get paid for it. The thing is, I take everything I do seriously...Education, Religion, etc And I'm glad I take this blog seriously because it's been worth it. There are so many other things I have gained from blogging that money can't buy. Like friendship, like love, like meeting people like Becky, Chincobee, Naija Mom, Gift Adene, Kish, Duncaholly and of course BMF(Bolatito Apatira). She has been so supportive and consistent in commenting on SIN. Forever will I be grateful to her...:-)...

How to celebrate Xmas...

Enjoying my blog??? pls leave a comment!!!  lol...I'm hard working sha, if nobody praises me, I praise myself *just kidding* Meanwhile, I found out that, many people(Christians) don't know how to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ....so I decided to share my own "little" knowledge about it. Enjoy! HOW TO CELEBRATE XMAS: Christmas has become a very commercial holiday. Rushing around to buy presents, people tend to forget the true meaning of Christmas. Aside from big dinners and expensive gifts, there are other ways to celebrate that reflect the true meaning of the holiday, and give the gifts to the One whose birthday it is! Let's go: Reflect on the reason for Christmas by doing some research. In the Bible, you can find the Christmas story in the book of Luke, Chapters 1 and 2. Choose some activities that you and your friends or family will enjoy and which fit with the meaning of Christmas and are also socially enjoyable. Consider preparing some special fo...
